Science Notebooks
Science notebooks contain information about the students’ classroom experiences. Students are encouraged to use them as scientists and engineers would, before, during, and after all investigations. They are a place where students formulate and record their questions, make predictions, record data, procedures, and results, compose reflections, and communicate findings. Most importantly, notebooks provide a place for students to record new concepts they have learned.A science notebook can provide students who are uncomfortable with writing a safe place to practice and develop their skills.Students can use word process notes and use drawing functions and other types of graphics on programs like Word, such as charts, graphs, tables, and so on. Older and more advanced students could keep an online science notebook and create a blog so other students in the class could comment on and compare their findings. In addition to using nonfiction literature to supplement observations and inquiries in a science notebook, students can do online research. |
Talking Flashcards
Talking Flashcards is an app that allows for users to recorded questions and answers for students. Or it can sync with Quizlet.com and supply users with questions that are read and answered from there.
Science notebooks"Keeping a science notebook encourages students to record and reflect on inquiry-based observations, activities, investigations, and experiments. Science notebooks are also an excellent way for students to communicate their understanding of science concepts, and for teachers to provide students with feedback."-Carol Cox

LivescribeLive Scribe
Livescribe smart pens convert handwritten notes and audio into digital format for access through the devices we use daily, fundamentally changing the way handwritten notes are accessed and shared. Pen and paper is still the most popular method of note-taking - a more natural and focused method than a keyboard and screen. Livescribe makes pen and paper more useful for today’s digital lifestyle. Livescribe smart pens have an embedded infrared camera that detects pen strokes on special Livescribe paper, allowing notes to be recorded digitally in real time. |
